You would think that my head has been in the sand for the last decade. Despite the Pinterest invasion of more recent times I have managed to hold myself back...until now. I could not help myself from finally stopping at a pile of free pallets. I grabbed one, wrestled it into the back of the Kombi and made for home. I already had on hand a bizarre coffee table frame collected in a recent hard rubbish throw out. The Perspex dome presents more questions than it answers, but it now works as a micro greenhouse in the backyard. After breaking down the pallet I arranged the boards onto the frame and screwed them down. Then cut them to size, added some strength and some side panels. I gave the table a light sand but not enough to strip the character out of the boards. Choosing the finish was a case of seeing what I had on hand in the garage. I basically didn't want to spend any money on this project. I used a clear stain to maintain the honesty of the timber The pallet table seemed a good fit outside the Outback Shack Micro Shelter. Beside that chair I made when I was 15. Once work has ceased, it is time to enjoy the fruits of your labour. I can see how this whole pallet thing could get quite addictive.
