I found this little sucker in the chook run the other day. We threw some over ripe mangoes to the hens and this is what happened. I decided to dig it up and put it in a pot before the chickens destroyed it. Hopefully in 15 years of so we will be eating sweet Mangoes.

I have spent the last two weeks improving the chook runs. The first step was to bring in the two outside fences. I did this to gain better access between the chook runs and the boundary fence line. We now have an improved pathway and viewing options. I also retro fitted some corrugated iron inside the chicken runs to act as a barrier against dirt being scratched out of the runs and against the timber fence. It was a bit of an effort, but worth doing properly. I threw some more bark chips around to pretty it all up again. We can now walk into both chicken runs easily. They both have permanent netting over the top to keep the chooks from flying the coop. We can also leave the chook run doors open overnight, this allows the hens to strech their legs as early as they like. We will alternate which run is in use for the birds and plant out the other one.
