I got home from work the other day a little weary.
So I ventured into the front yard and picked another Pepino for dessert. It tastes like Rockmelon and grows massive fruit for such a small plant. At least on our block it thrives/tolerates a sunny position in bone dry soil. It is better known in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Chile. That been said, it seems to cope just fine in Australia. It is not known to handle supermarket conditions well, so it is rarely stocked and best home grown.
Whilst I was at it, I grabbed a few more Blueberries as well.
Moving to the backyard, I picked some Cambridge Strawberries. These are worth growing for their scent alone, but make for excellent eating!
Next stop was the chook coop to collect further spoils of the day.
A modest yet satisfying dessert was shared with eggs in the bank for future days.
