It seems that you don't have to look too far to find free stuff just waiting to be funked up a little. I found an Ikea table in a recent council clean up, ripped the top off it and replaced it with some free pallet wood.

How do You Find Pallet Wood?

Once you start looking for pallet wood it is everywhere. It is a bit like buying a second hand car and then all of a sudden it feels like everyone is driving the same model as you. Industrial areas often have huge stockpiles with people happy to give them away. Generally speaking, if a pallet is damaged, you are doing everyone a favour by processing it and saving it from landfill.

If you spot any new houses or other such developments, then there is sure to be the odd pallet lying around waiting to be salvaged. Hardware stores are another gold mine, particularly the larger ones. Check out your local nursery as well. The key is to keep your eyes open and have a suitable vehicle to transport your bounty in. Throw a couple of ropes in the car if this helps and an old blanket, sometimes pallets can be pretty messy.

Remember the Golden Rule - If you are wearing a high visibilty safety vest, no one stops to ask questions.

All the best with your search and happy pallet project producing.

Now, back to this DIY Pallet Table with Micro Garden.

I will let the photos tell the story, I shot a film of the process as well so that should land in the next week or so. In the meantime you can check out my first pallet table film while you wait.

This is the chair I fell through while I was trying to take that last photo. Thankfully both legs went through at the same time so I landed on my feet. Not to worry, I found this chair for free a couple of years ago on the side of the road.

This is the table in position and good to go.
